every reading, in order
The record is a list of readings. A reading is one class, one source, and the block it was taken at. Readings are appended in block order and nothing in the contract can rewrite, reorder, or delete one. The list is the only part of this project that grows.
A run is how many consecutive blocks a source has stayed in the same class. Runs end when the class changes and are never resumed, so the longest run is a permanent record of the calmest stretch a source has had since deployment. It can be beaten later but it cannot be lowered.
The record is not compressed and it is not summarised on chain. What is stored is the minimum needed to reconstruct every reading, and everything else on this site, the counts, the shares, the histogram, the runs, is derived from that list at read time. If this site disappeared tomorrow, the record would still be complete on chain and anyone could rebuild these pages from it.
Order is by block, and blocks on this chain can be reorganised before they settle on the layer beneath. A reading taken in a block that later disappears disappears with it, which means the record is exactly as final as the chain under it and no more. Nothing is written here that claims a stronger guarantee than the thing it is written on.
The record is not a score and there is nothing to be at the top of. It holds no addresses, no balances, and no reference to who was reading when. Two people reading the same block get the same readings, and neither one of them appears in what gets written down.
